October 1, 2026 – Chase and IHG® Hotels & Resorts announced significant changes to the IHG One Rewards credit card portfolio, including the launch of the new IHG One Rewards Premier Select Credit Card. The new $350-annual-fee card is designed for travelers who want more hotel benefits, automatic elite status and additional ways to earn IHG One Rewards points.
At the same time, Chase is introducing new and enhanced benefits across the existing IHG credit cards. The updates include new Food & Beverage Rewards, airline statement credits, additional Elite Night Credits, enhanced Free Night benefits and changes to everyday earning categories.
The changes are intended to give IHG cardmembers more ways to earn rewards and reach IHG One Rewards Milestone Rewards.
The new IHG One Rewards Premier Select Credit Card has a $350 annual fee and is positioned as the premium option in the IHG consumer card lineup.
According to Chase and IHG, the card offers more than $1,000 in potential first-year value through its combination of hotel rewards, travel credits, elite status and other benefits.
The 20 annual Elite Night Credits are particularly notable because they immediately put cardmembers closer to IHG One Rewards Milestone Rewards and next elite status tier. The card also provides automatic Platinum Elite status, which can provide benefits such as Confirmable Suite Upgrades, welcome amenities, early check-in and late check-out, subject to availability and applicable terms.
The existing IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card is also receiving substantial changes. The card currently carries a $150 annual fee and will add several new benefits.
The addition of grocery stores to the 5X earning categories is one of the more notable changes for everyday spending. The new airline credit and Food & Beverage Rewards also give the card more benefits beyond hotel stays.
The no-annual-fee IHG One Rewards Credit Card, formerly known as the IHG One Rewards Traveler Card, is also getting meaningful updates.
The card will offer:
For a no-annual-fee card, the addition of annual Elite Night Credits gives cardmembers another way to make progress toward IHG One Rewards elite benefits without paying an annual fee.
The former IHG One Rewards Premier Business Card is becoming the IHG One Rewards Business Credit Card and will carry a $200 annual fee.
The updated business card includes:
Chase is also launching new welcome offers for the updated portfolio.
Through November 18, 2026, new cardmembers can earn:
These offers are available for a limited time, with the announcement specifying November 18 as the end date.
The changes go beyond simply adding another premium credit card. Chase and IHG are making the cards more closely integrated with the IHG One Rewards program.
One of the biggest changes is the introduction of annual Elite Night Credits across the entire portfolio. Cardmembers will receive between 5 and 20 Elite Night Credits depending on the card, with additional credits available based on spending.
The cards are also getting more ways to earn benefits outside of hotel spending. Food & Beverage Rewards and airline statement credits are being added to the annual benefits of the premium consumer and business cards.
Everyday earning categories are changing as well. Grocery stores join the bonus categories on both the Premier (5X) and the no-annual-fee card (3X) but there’s a trade-off: utilities, internet, cable, and phone services, plus select streaming services, lose their 3X rate on the no-annual-fee card and drop to 2X.
The Anniversary Free Night benefits are also being updated. The Premier and Business cards have a 50,000-point redemption cap. Cardmembers can use additional IHG One Rewards points to supplement the certificate when applicable.
The new Premier Select ($350/yr) effectively creates another tier above the existing Premier card ($150/yr).
The main distinction is the combination of 20 annual Elite Night Credits, automatic Platinum Elite status, a 60,000-point Anniversary Free Night, up to $300 in Food & Beverage Rewards, and a $200 airline statement credit.
The existing Premier remains a lower-fee option with 15 annual Elite Night Credits, automatic Gold Elite status, a 50,000-point Anniversary Free Night, up to $100 in Food & Beverage Rewards, and a $100 airline statement credit.
Meanwhile, the no-annual-fee IHG card is the entry point: 5 annual Elite Night Credits and automatic Silver Elite status – a low-cost way to earn IHG points and keep elite status in reach.
The interesting wrinkle is the Business card ($200/yr). It combines 15 annual Elite Night Credits, automatic Platinum Elite status, a 50,000-point Anniversary Free Night, up to $100 in Food & Beverage Rewards, and a $100 airline statement credit – near-Premier Select perks at $150 less per year. If you qualify for a business card, it’s arguably the value pick of the lineup.
Existing cardmembers should pay attention to the timing of these changes. Chase and IHG stated that existing IHG One Rewards cardmembers will receive information during October 2026 explaining which new and enhanced benefits apply to their accounts and when each change becomes effective.
Annual fees for existing cardmembers are expected to be adjusted in 2027, although the announcement does not yet provide the specific new annual fees or exact dates for those adjustments.
This means cardmembers should review the communication from Chase before deciding whether the updated benefits justify keeping their existing card once the new annual fee structure takes effect.
The October 2026 IHG card refresh significantly expands the role of IHG credit cards within the IHG One Rewards program. The new IHG One Rewards Premier Select Credit Card introduces a premium $350 annual-fee option with Platinum Elite status, 20 annual Elite Night Credits, a 60,000-point Anniversary Free Night, substantial Food & Beverage Rewards, and an airline statement credit – Chase’s bid for the premium hotel-card crown.
At the same time, the existing IHG cards are receiving new benefits rather than simply being left behind. The Premier card gains additional credits, Elite Night Credits, and a new 5X grocery earning category, the no-annual-fee card gains annual Elite Night Credits and a new 3X grocery earning category, and the Business card adds both travel benefits and an Expensify credit.
For IHG loyalists, the most important changes to compare will be the annual fee, Elite Night Credits, automatic status, Anniversary Free Night, annual credits, and spending rewards across the four cards. Existing cardmembers should also wait for Chase’s individual communication before evaluating the impact of the future annual-fee changes.
